Configuration Drawer
This menu is accessed by single-clicking on the BST logo on the top left of the screen, or sliding your finger from the left edge of the tablet. This brings up the menu shown in the figure below.
Map Viewing Options
The first 4 options on the menu will change the view of the maps. Select your choice from this menu. The options include:
- Street Map: Used to keep track of exact areas and roads for mission planning .
- Satellite: Usually the default map, useful for most planning and operation.
- Terrain: Used to keep track of terrain and altitudes when operating in hilly or mountainous areas.
- VFR Chart: Useful for checking airspaces and proximity of airports.
Layers and Icons
This options will open up a seperate menu with check boxes. This menu contains all of the display features that can be toggled on or off including:
- Vehicle Icons: The aircraft and ground station icon
- Note: turning this off is not recommended.
- Flight Plans: The display of flight plans
- Note: turning this off is not recommended.
- Compass: The compass to indicate North.
- Scale Bar: The scale showing distance.
- My Location: The location of the tablet.
- Mini Map: A zoomed out mini map at the bottom right.
- Payload: The location of each photo taken by the payload.
- Position Trace: A trace of vehicle path to show the tracking.
- ADSB Icons: Green aircraft icons shows location of aircraft with ADSB out
- Projected Path: A trace of the vehicle’s intended path
Map Cache
Selecting this header will open a seperate menu where you can set zoom levels and download the section of map outlined on your screen. For most operations zoom levels 17-19 are sufficient to download.
GCS Communications
This menu will allow you to change the IP and Port the Swift Tab will seach for and communicate with. By default, IP should always be 192.168.1.1 and the Port number 55555. This should not be changed for use with the SwiftStation but different values may be used for simulation.
Upload Log File
This will open a link that allows you to upload the logfile to get a full flight report, plots, and the ability to export CSV files. This is a very powerful feature that gives you all of the information from your flight. The logfile looks like this: bst_201x_xx_xx/logs/LOG_XXX.BIN
Launch video Stream
This will start the video feed from the vehicle in a pop-up window
Operator Mode
This will open a menu that will allow changes to the level of access you'll have for settings and parameters of the aircraft. These modes include:
- Observer: Puts the tablet in read-only mode. Useful if you have a second tablet to give to someone to observe the operation without the ability to send commands.
- Operator (DEFAULT): The mode used by the operator. Allows all necessary controls and inputs for flight testing.
- Designer: A mode with more features, useful for integrating new aircraft.
Terrain
Opening this menu will allow you to set a warning height where when the aircraft acheives this altitude or lower, the SwiftTab will begin to warn you with low altitude warnings. This should be left at the default of 30m for most aircraft.

This will open a window showing you the version of the Swift Tab app currently running as well as give you the opportunity to update to the newest version if it's available and you have internet access.
